As Launch Engineer, the candidate will join a collaborative team who coordinate and execute pre-launch and launch activities for innovative nano and micro-satellite vehicle solutions. The individual will be responsible for hardware development during all phases of a development cycle, including requirements, design, implementation, test, integration, and documentation in a fast-paced environment. A multi-disciplinary background is needed as well as creativity to develop innovative solutions to release satellites in space without jeopardizing safety or reliability aspects.
It is expected that the individual will have an ability and desire to learn, grow, and discover continuously. Specific tasks will Include:
- Working in a small team environment closely with electrical, systems and mechanical engineers to develop optimal solutions to complex problems
- Participating in hardware requirements generation, design, implementation, and testing discussion with multiple team members
- Design of both small and complex satellite deployment systems, involving mechanisms and miniaturized devices
- Develop assembly procedures, test plans, and fabrication documentation
- Participating in team discussions involving vehicle arrangement and design for ongoing and future projects
- Maintaining and updating the 3D model database
- Identifying appropriate materials and chemical coatings for deployment mechanisms
- Working in both an office and lab environment
- Address and deal with off-nominal scenarios, providing Go/No-Go decision in a high-pressure, fast paced environment

Requirements
- BS or MS in Mechanical, Aerospace, or equivalent degree required
- Strong mechanical background
- Ability in working with solid modeling software and FEA (SolidWorks, Femap)
- Knowledgeable and proficient in applying advanced engineering principles
- Quick to grasp abstract problems and creative in visualizing solutions
- Productive in craftsmanship and attentive to detail
- Ability to document complex designs and procedures with attention to detail
- Good communication with team members, and ability to provide and receive constructive criticism
- Ability to work with flight hardware in a controlled environment
- Ability to use precision inspection equipment, i.e. micrometers, indicators, (usually acquired by machining or other precision hands-on experience)
Proficient use of written and oral English language is mandatory
