We offer a role as Materials Engineer, who will be based in Aliaxis Casella (GE) and will be part of and provide support to the EMEA IPD (Innovation and Product Development) department.
This figure will be in charge of managing, supervising, and executing the injection trials with the purpose to validate process parameters on new materials and on new moulds, also being responsible for laboratory preliminary test on materials processability. As the IPD counterpart for Engineering and Operations, will be accountable of the deliverables and of the required technical support, will propose improvements and recommendations, and define the manufacturing processes.
The Key Responsibilities can be summarized as follows:
- Be part of Innovation Product Development teams with key responsibility to manage and execute injection trials of new moulds at Aliaxis EMEA plants or at mould supplier facilities (Europe or Low Cost Countries).
- Act as a link with raw materials and external suppliers for troubleshooting activities and new projects development.
- Execute trials with analytic approach in order to provide clear reporting of variation of influencing factors and results (Design of Experiment approach).
- Validate the moulds functionality and cooling efficiency.
- In collaboration with the Product Development Engineer or CAD Design Engineer, identify the best process parameters to assure the part dimensional and quality conformity, from early project stages until final validation.
- Release Injection parameters specification sheet to hand over to manufacturing.
- Support Simulation Engineer in FEA software for injection simulations.
- Coordinate the trials scheduling with Planning department and Mould Engineering dept. in order to match the given priorities.
- Collaborate with Aliaxis materials EMEA competence centre to test or develop new materials.
- Validate new raw materials processability and the required physical or mechanical properties through tests in our local laboratory.
- Support Engineering and Quality to optimize existing product in Continuous Improvement projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s/Master degree in Materials, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering is preferred.
- Plastic material competences are required. Specialized courses are a plus.
- Experience in plastic Injection Moulding process is preferred.
- Experience with coordinating projects.
- Pro-active, able to prioritize and implement improvements.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to convince and persuade.
- Attitude to get his hand dirty.
- Willingness to travel abroad.
- English amp; Local language are a must.
