Head of Finance

We are looking for our new Head of Finance Italy - this is a brand new role we are introducing in the context of our transition to become a leading international insurtech player.

The Role

Prima is an Italian tech company that has been disrupting the insurance industry since its launch in 2015, achieving a 100 million investment from Goldman Sachs and Blackstone in 2018. Prima now boasts over two and a half million of active clients and has started its international expansion: it opened its operations in the UK and will be launched in Spain.

We are looking for a top-tier business-oriented Head of Finance who will work as a sparring partner to the Italy Country Manager and the Group CFO. Our perfect candidate will have a strong strategic mindset, with a sound background in corporate finance, ideally with some experience in the insurance sector. We are looking for a business-oriented manager with an analytical and data driven approach with strong communication and leadership skills. The chosen one will become into a real business partner, supporting the Country Manager and the Group CFO in shaping the strategic plan and steering the key business decisions for Italy in an optimal growth, risk and profitability balance.

Specifically, you will take care of these tasks:

  • Support Country Manager in defining strategy and targets at Business Unit level
  • Enforce a local value-driven decision making process, generating insights and contributing to Group analyses for the Board of Directors and for investors
  • Develop the business plan for Italy and coordinate the other managers to shape the annual budget
  • Cascade targets to KPI at country and Business Unit level
  • Perform forecasts and monitor actual vs targets
  • Manage costs, with over 50 million annual budget
  • Analyze performance and provide business intelligence, analytical and negotiation support for each business line (including marketing, pricing, business development, claims management and customer service)
  • Support managers on assessing new business opportunities
  • Steer and maintain relationship with banks
  • Coordinate the team responsible for reporting to 3rd parties (such as insurance partners and price comparison websites)
  • Be the main stakeholder for the finance tech developers team, responsible for ensuring quality of finance data

Requirements

Key Requirements

  • 7+ years' experience in Finance positions, preferably with managerial experience, or in top tier consulting companies with focus on corporate finance or investment banks with focus on insurance or fintech sectors
  • Strong academic background, ideally in a top-tier business school
  • A passion for coaching and growing a team of high caliber colleagues
  • Positive mind-set, ownership mentality and a pragmatic, "can do" attitude is key as we rapidly grow
  • Content-driven, analytics mindset, with ability to get deep in the details as well as grasping the bigger picture and the business dynamics quickly
  • Advanced financial modelling skills


Nice to Have

In addition to the basic requirements, we will carefully evaluate these characteristics:

  • Passion in simplifying processes, with plenty of ideas on introducing simple business monitoring dashboards
  • A genuine interest in mastering more about insurance Pamp;L and insurtech topics
  • Great communication skills, for influencing other top managers based on facts
  • A passion for working in a small, agile, fast-growing environment

The employment is Full Time and our contracts are regulated by the CCNL of Commerce.

Our office is in Piazzale Loreto 17, 20131 Milano (MI), but we also consider hiring for our offices in Rome, London, Madrid and Amsterdam.
