- Driving the roadmap of the most popular API Gateway in the world.
- Working closely with product marketing and field teams on enablement, messaging, and go-to-market approaches.
- Working with our developer advocacy team on engaging and exciting the Kong user base.
- Working alongside the rest of our product management, development, and go-to-market teams to define the product strategy.
- Tightly coordinating with our Konnect and Mesh teams to ensure the Kong Gateway integrates tightly with the entire Kong ecosystem.
What You’ll Bring:
- Background in product management (ideally 4+ years).
- Strong knowledge in the networking and security space
- Strong internet protocol knowledge (http, tls, tcp/ip, grpc, mtls, etc)
- Experience working with APIs and developers as a primary product audience (ideally: familiarity with the API gateway space).
- Experience working with large enterprises and strong knowledge of enterprise networking and security needs
- Understanding of how B2B go-to-market motions work (ideally experience helping manage products that have both SaaS and on-premise offerings).
- Excellent communication skills: both written and verbal.
- Flexibility to a changing set of opportunities and fluency in a fast-paced environment.
Deep knowledge in one of the following:- The observability stack and how to get the most out of metrics/logs/traces.
- Asynchronous api expertise (websockets/Kafka).
- Network + application layer security best practices and design.
- Distributed systems experience + request lifecycle design.
- SaaS, Hybrid, and On-Prem perspectives.
What is nice to have:
- Experience in open source is preferred: we need to figure out sustainable business practices built on top of open source as a team.
- Experience in the Kong ecosystem - this could include a professional or personal application or potentially self guided learning - curious people are always welcome at Kong!
Kong has different base pay ranges for different work locations globally, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to specific candidate location, role, skill set and level of experience. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards including sales incentives depending on the terms of the applicable plan and role. Benefits may vary depending on location. US based employees are typically offered access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short and long term disability benefits, basic life and ADamp;D insurance, among others. The typical base pay range for this role in the USD is $175,100 - $218,900 USD.
