Belmond is seeking a Cost Controller for Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, the legendary train that transports guests to the Golden Age on captivating journeys across Europe. ABOUT THE ROLE
You love to numbers and figures? You like to analysing data? Do you have first experience in a similar position? You are very attentive to detail? Then you could be perfect for the role of Cost Controller of one of the world’s most iconic trains.
In this role you will analyses data both in purchasing and sales through the collection and analysis of working documents such as: on board manager reports, POS trial balance, guest bills, merchandise consumption and breakage forms, requisitions, purchase orders, supplier invoices and other business statistical data. You are responsible for reporting on onboard credit card checks, sales analysis per trip, department and item, benchmark analysis on budget KPIs. The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express is a legend in motion. Its meticulously restored carriages carry guests in sumptuous style between Europe’s most beguiling cities. Classic one-night journeys glide between London, Paris and Venice. Further routes take in Amsterdam, Brussels, Budapest, Florence, Geneva, Istanbul, Prague, Rome, Cannes, Verona and Vienna, with longer tours including overnight hotel stays. Golden age opulence is epitomised in the private cabins of polished wood and plush upholstery, while the Grand Suites offer the ultimate indulgence, with double beds, marbled en suites, free-flowing champagne, private dining and 24-hour butler service. Gastronomy is a major highlight of the onboard experience. Chef Jean Imbert celebrates seasonality and artisan produce in his exquisite menus, which are complemented by a wine list boasting Europe’s finest vintages and appellations. Requirements
- 1 2 years relevant experience within a similar role
- Experience within the luxury hospitality industry - advantageous
- Relevant management or field/industry related diploma or degree
- Basics of accounting and financial management
- Knowledge to draft and control budgets
- Good administration skills and organisational skills
- Attitude for data collection, analysis and reporting
- Demonstrated ability to be innovative and creative
- Good communication skills in Italian and English written and verbal. Any other language advantageous.

- Working knowledge of MS Office
- Computer literacy skills
- Demonstrable aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
