Location: Sigonella, IT

Full time on-site: Yes

Not to Exceed Rate: 56 EUR

Total Scope of the request (hours): 418

End Contract Date: 31 December 2023

Required Security Clearance: NATO SECRET

Specific Working Conditions: Usually normal office environment, may be deployed to operations-theatres, works in shifts

Duties and Role:

Under the direction of the NAGSF SPT CIS Section Head Communications/SatCom Operations Section (SCCO 0010) will perform duties such as the following:

  • Operates the NAGSF Communication Desk during maintenance, trouble-shooting and flight operations.
  • Works according to according to DAAA regulations.
  • Maintains AGS SATCOM database, Service Request Tracking Tool and circuit database records.
  • Monitors, controls and conducts first and second-level maintenance and troubleshooting of AGS SATCOM services in coordination with ESOC to support NAGSF operations.
  • Manages the available resources, ensuring that all approved changes are carried out in accordance with DAAA regulations and current procedures.
  • Maintains the relevant AGS Standing Operation Procedures (SOP) regarding SatCom operations
  • Coordinates with Agencies/contractors. Requests resources or services covered by an existing service provision contracts.
  • Supports NAGSF co-ordinating central support of NAGSF external Agencies to restore networks and communication services.
  • Operates, maintains and monitors COMMS/SATCOM systems using NAGSF specific tools.
  • Participates in the development and delivery of on-the-job (OJT) training to the Military members ensuring that the staff reach/maintain the correct DAAA certification required to perform their tasks in support of AGS operations.
  • Work on own initiative with limited supervision, may lead others as required.
  • Manages assigned material with appropriate inventories.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

Skill, Knowledge amp; Experience:

  • The candidate must have a currently active NATO SECRET security clearance
  • 2 years post related experience or a Higher Secondary education and completed higher vocational training leading to a formal technical or professional certification with 5 years post-related experience, or a Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 6 years post related experience.
  • Experience in system management of large modern military communication networks, interfaces and protocols.
  • Three years of experience on SATCOM Systems in an operational environment.
  • Experience of working in a busy, demanding operational environment.
  • A very good understanding of telecommunications / network / information technology solutions amp; products.

Desirable Experience and Education:

1. Professional/Experience

  • Specializations: Tactical UHF ground systems, Telecommunication Systems and Digital Communications.

Specific Experience:

  • Three years practical experience with NATO or National SATCOM systems.
  • Familiarity with accounting and control procedures for NATO classified equipment.
  • Experience with measurement software.
  • Ability to handle multiple SAR and incidents simultaneously while adapting to constantly changing requirements.
  • Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements.
  • Experience in flight/aircraft related operations
  • Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization, including Allied Command Operations and Allied Command Transformation.

2. Education/Training

NATO or National training:

  • CIS Orientation or equivalent;
  • UHF Spectrum Monitoring;
  • Inmarsat training or workshop;
  • Matrix training or workshop.
